He sang Othello under Valery Gergiev on the Mariinsky stage and at the Metropolitan, Parsifal in Italy, in cinema (Parsifal: The Quest of the Grail, directed by Tony Palmer) and in the Wagner gala in St. Petersburg (1998). Since 1993, Domingo has been president of the International Society of Friends of Kirov Opera. In 1999, at the invitation of Gergiev, he took part in the Pushkin concert on Red Square. The nearest joint plans of Domingo and the Mariinsky Theater are recordings and performances at festivals in Salzburg and Los Angeles. There is also talk of a project to stage Offenbach's opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" by Placido Domingo's wife Martha.
