The prosecutor's office transferred to court a criminal case against a gang of 13 people Yesterday, the department of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District sent to court the criminal case of the Bychkov-Schneider gang, which included 13 people. They accounted for 15 robberies, assaults and car thefts.

PACE will not simplify the extradition of terrorists
PACE deputies refused to discuss the issue of simplifying the extradition procedure for persons suspected of terrorist activities. The paragraph of the resolution proposed to the deputies stated that there is no and cannot be a justification for terrorism, and therefore no “political reservations” can serve as a basis for refusing to extradite those involved in terrorism.

In Afghanistan, an assassination attempt was made on the candidate for the post of Vice President of Afghanistan, Ahmad Zia Massoud, who is running in the elections together with the current Afghan leader Hamid Karzai. The assassination attempt took place in Faizabad (Badashan province) when Ahmad Zia Masood's motorcade was heading from the airport to the area where an election rally was to take place. A bomb exploded near the motorcade, killing one person.

Latvia recalls ambassador to Russia
At a meeting of the Latvian Seimas commission on foreign affairs, a decision was made to recall Latvian Ambassador to Russia Norman Penke. It is assumed that Mr. Penke may be appointed to one of the senior positions in the Latvian Foreign Ministry. In particular, he may replace Maris Riekstins, who has been appointed head of the diplomatic mission of Latvia in the United States, as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
