Lviv hippodrome transferred to municipal ownership
At today's meeting of the Lviv City Council, a decision was made to transfer the state-owned enterprise “Lviv Hippodrome” to the municipal property structure of the city. 62 deputies voted for the transfer of the hippodrome to communal ownership. Until this time, the hippodrome was being prepared for privatization.

Odessa region received 8.3 million hryvnia in grain subsidies
The Odessa region received the first tranche from the state budget in the amount of 8.3 million hryvnia to carry out comprehensive measures to preserve the harvest of spring wheat varieties in 2006. Kommersant was informed about this today by the press service of the Odessa Regional State Administration with reference to the acting. Governor of the Odessa region Boris Zvyagintsev. The total amount of subsidies that is needed today to save the spring harvest in the region is 33 million hryvnia.

The banking system of Ukraine is on the verge of loss of liquidity
Today Kommersant reports that the National Bank has published the growth rate of deposits and loans in the banking system of Ukraine for five months of 2006. According to the NBU, loans issued by banks exceeded the funds they attracted by UAH 25.65 billion. At the same time, according to First Deputy Chairman of the NBU Anatoly Shapovalov, only foreign currency lending to the population has increased by 44.5% since the beginning of the year.
