Sadovaya Group ended 2012 with a loss of $14.6 million
Sadovaya Group SA (Luxembourg) ended 2012 with a loss of $14.596 million, the company said in a statement. In 2012, the company received income of $39.954 million, while in 2011 this figure was $90.082 million. As the agency reported, Sadovaya Group SA (Luxembourg) ended 2011 with a net profit of $13.232 million. Sadovaya Group is a holding company and specializes in the mining, processing and beneficiation of thermal coal, coal mining and processing waste, as well as coal trading operations.

Fido Bank closed the deal to purchase Erste Bank
The owners of Fido Bank have completed the acquisition of a subsidiary financial institution of the Austrian Erste Bank - Erste Bank. “The owners of Fido Bank PJSC have closed a deal to purchase 100% of the shares of the Ukrainian subsidiary bank - Erste Bank JSC,” Fido Bank said in a statement. Once the transaction is closed and the transfer of ownership is completed, the process of merging Erste Bank and Fido Bank will begin.

Masha Gessen resigns as director of the Russian service of Radio Liberty
Journalist Masha Gessen will leave the post of director of the Russian service of Radio Liberty, media manager Gleb Morev reports on his Facebook . “Masha Gessen has been fired,” Mr. Morev wrote. In an interview with Kommersant-FM radio, Ms. Gessen stated that she was resigning as director of her own free will. Tsarnaev's defense bolstered by death penalty expert
Well-known lawyer and death penalty specialist Judy Clark will join the defense of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, suspected of committing a terrorist attack in Boston, RIA Novosti reported on April 30, citing the Boston Globe. According to the publication, this decision was made by Judge Marianne Bowler in order to “ensure the defendant sufficient representation at the trial.” Tsarnaev is accused of using a weapon of mass destruction and faces life imprisonment or the death penalty.

Cyprus Parliament approves increase in taxes and fees
The Parliament of Cyprus voted in favor of 10 bills agreed upon with the troika of creditors, primarily to increase taxes and fees, the adoption of which is necessary to receive financial assistance. 29 out of 56 deputies voted for the most controversial law - on real estate. It is expected that the same number of votes will approve the bill on ratification of the memorandum with creditors on the conditions for receiving financial assistance. Deputies failed to change the road construction program
The government's proposals for the regional investment program for 2013-2015 (KIP AS) will be presented for adoption in the second reading in the same form. This decision was made at today's meeting of the permanent working group to consider issues related to the development of highways and road activities. The amendments proposed by the deputies were not supported by the working group.

Two new projects of the corporation will cost 18 billion rubles As Kommersant has learned, today at a meeting of the Investment Council under the Governor of St. Petersburg, two new investment projects of the Uralvagonzavod Corporation (UVZ) will be presented. The total amount of financing will be 18 billion rubles - this is a high figure for St. Petersburg. The cost of new UVZ projects is comparable to the entire volume of anti-crisis state support for the corporation in 2008-2009.
