The Memorial Human Rights Center recognized Ukrainian citizen Andrei Kolomiets, who was sentenced in Russia to 10 years in prison, as a political prisoner. In December 2014, Kolomiets, who lived in a village near Kiev, moved to Kabardino-Balkaria to live with his beloved. Six months later, he was detained, and in the safe of his ex-husband, his girlfriend found a package of marijuana, which was attributed to the Ukrainian. Later, the young man was accused of attacking two Berkut employees.
