In Chechnya, a local resident who tried to blow up a military man 14 years ago was sentenced to life imprisonment
The Supreme Court of Chechnya sentenced 37-year-old local resident Rustam Ganiev, who tried to blow up a military man, to life imprisonment. As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office, according to the case materials, in March 2002, Ganiev planted an IED on the side of the road between the settlements of Achkhoy-Martan and Bamut. When military personnel were passing by, conducting reconnaissance of the area, Ganiev, using a radio station, activated the IED.
