Police report 44 arrests in Ferguson
In Ferguson, Missouri, 44 rioters were arrested overnight following a court decision to acquit a police officer who shot an unarmed teenager. “Overall, the night went much better,” said St. Louis County Police Chief John Belmar. According to him, the police were assisted by hundreds of National Guard troops, whose units arrived in the city. However, it was not possible to completely stop the unrest. The rioters set fire to a police car and smashed windows in the city administration building.
