Members of the HRC found no violations of the law in the wedding of a schoolgirl and the head of the Chechen police department
The Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of the Russian Federation did not find violations of the law in the marriage of 17-year-old Louise (Kheda) Goylabieva and the head of the Nozhai-Yurt District Department of Internal Affairs, Nazhud Guchigov. According to Mikhail Fedotov, chairman of the HRC, members of the council contacted human rights activists in Chechnya, as well as the republican authorities, but no confirmation of reports of forced marriage or polygamy was received.
