Putin appointed and... O. Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory
Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Natalia Zhdanova, chairman of the local legislative assembly, as acting governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced by his press secretary Dmitry Peskov. As Dmitry Peskov later explained, the Trans-Baikal Territory, like Karelia, whose governor was reprimanded, is inefficiently implementing regional programs for the resettlement of citizens from dilapidated housing stock, for which federal subsidies are allocated.
