The crashed Il-76 caught trees with its wing while climbing
Il-76, which crashed on July 1 in the Irkutsk region while extinguishing forest fires, fell, catching its wing on trees on a hill. This was reported to TASS by a source in the aviation industry. “After dropping water at low altitude, the Il-76 aircraft, in difficult weather conditions (smoke and very poor visibility) and due to turbulence arising from ascending hot air flows, did not manage to gain altitude, its left wing caught trees on a hill and fell,” the source said.
