Pentathlete Alexander Lesun brought Russia its fourth Olympic gold in a day
Russian athlete Alexander Lesun won the Olympic competition in modern pentathlon. The second was the Ukrainian Pavel Timoshenko, the third was the Mexican Ismael Marcelo Hernandez Uscanga. In total, Lesun scored 1,479 points, seven points ahead of Tymoshenko. In swimming, they showed the same result; Timoshenko was better in show jumping, running and shooting, but much worse in fencing - and therefore, in the end, he lost the gold to the Russian.
