The IOC stripped two Russians of their Beijing 2008 and London 2012 medals
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), in the course of re-checking doping samples taken at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and 2012 in London, convicted four Russian athletes of using illegal drugs. These are Maria Abakumova, who won silver in the javelin throw in Beijing, runner Denis Alekseev, who won bronze at those Games as a participant in the 4 × 400 meters relay, as well as runner Inga Abitova and cyclist Yekaterina Gnidenko (participated in the Olympics in London).
