George Weah, the only African Ballon d'Or winner, won the Liberian presidential election.
In the second round of the presidential elections in Liberia, 51-year-old George Weah, a former football player, won the only African to win the Ballon d'Or. As the National Electoral Commission announced on December 28, after counting 98 percent of the vote, Weah leads with 61.5 percent. Incumbent Vice President of Liberia Joseph Bokai scored 38.5 percent. The final results of the voting will be announced on 29 December.
