Roman Abramovich to Sell 4% of Channel One to Obtain Israeli Citizenship
Businessman Roman Abramovich, who received Israeli citizenship, will sell 4% of Channel One, RBC reports, citing sources. Thus, the ownership structure of the TV channel, 24% of which belongs to Abramovich, will be brought into line with the Law on Mass Media, which prohibits foreign citizens from having a share of more than 20 percent in the media. The buyer of the stake may be one of the current shareholders of Channel One. Most likely, as RBC sources say, it will be the National Media Group.
