Sudan abolishes death penalty for girl who killed rapist husband
In Sudan, a court commuted the sentence of Noura Hussain, convicted of killing her husband who raped her. Instead of the death penalty, she received 5 years in prison, according to CNN, citing her lawyers. Noura Hussain, 19, was sentenced to hang in May 2018. The Sharia court found her guilty of murdering her 35-year-old husband, to whom the girl was forcibly married. After the wedding, she refused to have sex with her husband, and he raped her.
