Unemployment in Russia has risen to its highest level in 8 years
The total number of unemployed in Russia in June 2020 was 4.6 million people. This is stated in the preliminary calculations of Rosstat. The unemployment rate, according to the agency, is 6.2%. As Interfax notes, this is the maximum value since March 2012 (then it was 6.5%). In May 2020, this figure was 6.1%. Officially, 2.8 million people registered as unemployed. This is 30% more than in May, and almost four times more than in March, before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
