Rosstat: the number of deaths in Russia in October was 30% higher than last year. Excess mortality since the start of the pandemic has exceeded 138 thousand people
In Russia, 47,777 people or 30.3% more died in October than in the same month a year earlier, Rosstat reports. The leaders in excess mortality were Moscow (3,254 people), Samara Region (2,269 people), Rostov Region (2,240 people), Chelyabinsk Region (2,145 people) and Altai Krai (1,780 people). At the same time, according to the same agency, only 15,607 thousand people died from coronavirus or its consequences in October.
