Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who left the country amid mass protests, announced his resignation. According to Reuters, citing sources, on the evening of July 14, the head of Sri Lanka sent an email resigning his powers to the speaker of the country's parliament. On July 13 , it became known that Rajapaksa flew out of the country to the Maldives. After that, he went to Singapore. Local authorities said the president was on a private visit and did not apply for asylum.
