Iran releases five American citizens as part of deal with US after $6 billion in Iranian assets were unfrozen
Five American citizens who were being held in Iran's Evin prison for political prisoners have flown out of Tehran. This happened as part of a deal brokered by Qatar between Iran and the United States, Reuters reported , citing sources, and the White House soon confirmed this information. The plane carrying five Americans, who hold both Iranian and US citizenship, and accompanied by the Qatari ambassador, departed for the Qatari capital Doha. They will then fly from there to the US.
