George R.R. Martin and a Dozen Other Writers Sue ChatGPT Creators for “Systematic Theft”
The Authors Guild has filed a lawsuit ( .pdf ) in federal court in New York against OpenAI, the company that developed the artificial intelligence ChatGPT, the Associated Press reports. The lawsuit was joined by 17 authors, including George R.R. Martin, who created the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels (based on which Game of Thrones was filmed), as well as best-selling authors John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, George Saunders and Jonathan Franzen.
