The Ministry of Justice declared the human rights organization Article 19 “undesirable” in Russia
The Russian Ministry of Justice has updated the register of “undesirable” organizations, adding the British human rights organization Article 19 to it. The organization, which has been around since 1987, works to protect freedom of speech and information around the world, according to its website. It is named after Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states, among other things, that everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.
