The New York Times: Israeli Generals Call for Ceasefire with Hamas
Israel's military leadership is in favor of a truce with the Palestinian movement Hamas, The New York Times reported on July 2, citing six unnamed Israeli national security officials. According to the newspaper's sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, a truce would be "the quickest way to free the hostages" held by Hamas terrorists. Currently, about 120 Israelis, both living and dead, remain in Gaza, the newspaper points out.
