Ryan Root, accused of attempting to assassinate Trump, received life in prison
The Federal Court for the Southern District of Florida sentenced Ryan Root, accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump during the politician's election campaign in 2024, to life imprisonment, Reuters reports. A jury found Root, 59, guilty of all charges, including attempted murder, in September 2025. After the verdict was announced, the defendant tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen, but was prevented by federal marshals (bailiffs).
