Nikita Zhuravel, convicted in cases of burning the Koran and “treason,” is in a colony in the Ulyanovsk region, said Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation. According to the human rights activist, Zhuravel’s mother received a “touching letter” from him. “He writes that he wrote a paper letter home about a month ago and hopes that they received it (they didn’t). I wrote the date in the letter as 03/26/2026,” Merkacheva said.
