South Ossetia intends to join the Russian Federation, the president of this unrecognized republic said, Interfax reports. "I, as the head of state, turned to the President of the Russian Federation with a request for the entry of South Ossetia into Russia," said Eduard Kokoita, head of the unrecognized republic on Friday. He noted that he proceeded from the results of the 1992 referendum, when the residents of the region spoke out for joining Russia.
