Corruption in universities: $618 million and - no problems?!
The Russian market for corruption in higher education has reached record levels. In the last academic year alone, Russians paid bribes totaling $618 million. According to Transperancy International-Russia's annual corruption barometer, in 2007, in education, including higher education, Russians paid bribes almost four times more often than in courts, twice more often than in medical institutions, and five times more often than in registration authorities.
