When experts are killed...
This march, traditionally, for the seventh time, takes place on October 31 - the birthday of Nikolai Girenko, an ethnographer, expert and human rights activist. On this day Nikolai Mikhailovich would have turned 70 years old. The march ended with a rally on Academician Sakharov Square. The seventh March against hatred took place in St.

For fans of Voltaire
Traditionally, the March against Hate in St. Petersburg took place without serious conflicts (minor provocations do not count). All those who consider themselves people with democratic convictions, regardless of individual political differences, united in their rejection of fascism, xenophobia, and incitement to interethnic hatred.

"Socialist Revolutionaries" encroached on the gold reserves of Smolny
“The historical environment is the same exhaustible resource as oil or gas,” says former geologist and now leader of the Fair Russia Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov. The leadership of the northern capital is extremely careless in managing this resource; preserving the cultural heritage will only be possible through a fundamentally different urban planning policy - dictated by the interests of society, not private business.

Agent "zero-zero-sem": from the orphanage with love
Pupils of orphanage No. 4, in an open letter addressed to President Dmitry Medvedev, ombudsmen Svetlana Agapitova and Vladimir Lukin, stated that their rights were being violated. On the one hand, this is another, quite expected refraction of the situation in which the director of a closed state institution cares more about his own peace of mind than about his charges (hence the conflict with the volunteers who come to the house).

Two “strategies-15.5”
Traditionally, the St. Petersburg authorities did not agree on either of the two actions in defense of Article 31 of the Constitution on freedom of assembly. And according to the same tradition, the National Bolsheviks, who gather together with left-wing activists and Kasyanov’s RDNS near Gostiny Dvor, treat with obvious hostility the democrats from Yabloko, the UCF and Solidarity, who, together with human rights activists, gather on Palace Square.

Opening of the 2010/11 music season
This fall, the opening of the music season in St. Petersburg began before the official ceremonies with two super-luxury concerts. On September 5, Bach's B minor Mass was performed in the Chapel by one of the best Bach ensembles in the world under the direction of the Fleming Herreweghe, and on the 17th in the Great Hall of the Philharmonic András Schiff played Bach and Schumann.

Consider them communists
The recent split between Eduard Limonov and Lyudmila Alekseeva, which divided the Moscow “dissenters,” happened according to the classic St. Petersburg scenario. The so-called leftists exposed the so-called liberals as soft-hearted and compromising, after which they proudly retired to make a revolution alone. This probably upset some people - they say that now the opposition has less chance of coming to power. Someone was pleased - for the same reason.

Musical St. Petersburg in November
In November, the most depressing month in St. Petersburg, philharmonic concerts become most important. The crystal light and magical warmth of classical masterpieces can more than compensate for the darkness and cold of autumn bad weather. It’s worth starting the musical November right today, on Monday, November 1, by stopping by the Small Hall on Nevsky, 30, where they are performing “Stabat Mater” and other things from the divine Pergolesi.

"love me please"
“I am aware that this is in no way cinematic art, this is journalism, political propaganda,” says the author of the film, Valery Balayan. “But I didn’t want to do a deep analytical study.” I just wanted to show this seamy side of our reality, make people talk and think about it. According to some studies, up to half of all Nazis in the world live in Russia. 15 thousand - in St. Petersburg alone. The data that the special services are behind the Nazis, unfortunately, is confirmed.

Predictions about arrests came true
Despite the efforts of the police and riot police, rallies on the 31st on Gostiny Dvor and Palace Square have become traditional. Both actions were not approved by the authorities. Similar actions took place simultaneously in 67 Russian cities. About an hour before the start of the rally in support of Article 31 of the Constitution, which was not permitted by Smolny, there was a gathering of police near Gostiny Dvor. The center was literally filled with police cars.
