“Jump-jump, the ceiling collapsed.” On November 1, 1974, Gennady Shpalikov passed away
Shpalikov, like many Russian geniuses who died early, is loved not only for what he did (many of his fans simply don’t know this - have they all read “Girl Nadia” or “Jump-jump, the ceiling collapsed”?), But also for what he didn't do. Many remember him wandering through the corridors of Mosfilm with a groan: “I can’t-u-u! I can't with them!" The time has come in which Shpalikov did not fit in. Most found niches, but he did not reforge.
