Belarusian presidential candidate ex-banker Babariko faces criminal charges
The State Security Committee of Belarus has filed charges in a criminal case against presidential candidate Viktor Babariko, who has headed Belgazprombank, a subsidiary of Russian Gazprom, for more than 20 years. His lawyer Dmitry Laevsky refused to name the charges. “Viktor Babariko, who is in the KGB pre-trial detention center, was charged today. I cannot name the article under which the charge was brought as part of a non-disclosure agreement,” told the Interfax news agency.
