The Greens in Germany have overtaken Merkel's party in popularity. Annalena Berbock is nominated as Chancellor
The German Greens have overtaken the Christian Democratic Union party, to which the current Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, belongs. This is evidenced by a survey by the Civey Market Research Institute, published by Der Spiegel. At the same time, the Greens chose 40-year-old Annalena Burbock as their candidate for chancellor. She became the second woman in history to compete for the post. According to a Civey poll, Burbock has taken the lead this week with a rating of just under 30%.
