In Moscow, on August 4, police officers detained Maxim Marutenkov and Alexander Menyukov, candidates for municipal deputies from the headquarters of Dmitry Gudkov in Shcherbinka, as well as an employee of the headquarters. This was reported to OVD-Info by Marutenkov. According to Marutenkov, he and other activists were detained while posting campaign materials, about the production and distribution of which they had previously notified the TEC of the Sosnovsky district.

The FSB department for the Oryol region opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (public calls for extremist activities via the Internet) against the author of pro-Ukrainian poems, Alexander Byvshev. He announced this on August 5. In total, six criminal cases have been opened against Byvshev, five of which were initiated by his work.
