A criminal case was opened against senior traffic police inspector Pavel Gladchenko, who is a friend of Vladimir Vorontsov, the author of the public page “Police Ombudsman”. Gladchenko is forced to testify against Vorontsov as part of an extortion case. This was reported by MBKh Media. In the morning, Gladchenko was searched on suspicion of taking a bribe (Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code).

Ivan Astashin, the defendant in the ABTO case, was extended his stay in a cell-type room until mid-September. He is due to be released on September 21st. The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan arrested Amirkhan Sofronov, a participant in a one-man picket against amendments to the Constitution, for 10 days. The activist was detained on June 30 in the city center.

In the suburbs of Vienna, a Russian who applied for political asylum was shot dead. This is reported by "ORF" with reference to police spokesman Walter Schwarzenecker. According to Schwarzeneker, both the victim and the suspect are probably natives of Chechnya. The man was killed on the evening of July 4 by a shot in the head near one of the city's shopping centers. The alleged killer was detained "without resistance" in the city of Linz.
