The ECHR awarded compensation to an LGBT activist detained on National Coming Out Day in 2013
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has published a decision in the case of St. Petersburg LGBT activist Elena Berkman, who was detained in 2013 at a rally dedicated to the National Coming Out Day. On October 12, 2013, Elena Berkman arrived at the Champ de Mars, where, besides her, about 30 more demonstrators and about a hundred aggressive opponents of the LGBT gathered.
