These are LLC “Dannoe Message”, created by Radio Liberty journalists Regina Gimalova and Regina Khisamova, and LLC “Number Seventy Seven”, created by BBC Russian Service correspondent Andrei Zakharov. The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court upheld the sentence of three Jehovah's Witnesses - Alexei Oreshkov, Alexander Rakovsky and Alexander Vavilov - who had previously been given three years' probation. The law on "foreign agents" has been in force in Russia for 10 years. During this time, more than two hundred media outlets, NGOs and people associated with them got into the registers. A "foreign agent" may be recognized for political activity and assistance from foreign sources. Often these categories are interpreted too broadly - foreign funding may be a transfer from a friend, and political activity - a post on a social network.
