Ekaterinburg human rights activist accused of re-displaying the Facebook logo has been released from pre-trial detention center
Human rights activist from Yekaterinburg Alexei Sokolov, arrested in the case of repeated demonstration of prohibited symbols (Part 1 of Article 282.4 of the Criminal Code), was released from pre-trial detention center No. 1, Vecherniye Vedomosti reports . Sokolov was released from the detention center due to the expiration of his arrest. The investigator did not apply to the court to extend the arrest. A Jehovah's Witness from Crimea sentenced to six years was transferred to a Volgograd colony
Jehovah's Witness from Crimea, Yuri Gerashchenko, was taken to correctional colony No. 9 in Volgograd, reports the project “Jehovah's Witnesses. Legal situation in Russia". In July 2024, the Krasnogvardeysky District Court of Crimea sentenced Gerashchenko and another believer, father of six children Sergei Parfenovich, to six years probation. In an appeal, the Supreme Court of Crimea replaced the suspended sentences with real ones - now the convicts must serve six years in a colony.
