A transgender man became the mayor of a city in Italy for the first time.
The victory in the election of mayor of the Italian city of Tromello was won by 40-year-old lawyer Gianmarco Negri, who made a transgender transition five years ago. Previously, Gianmarco Negri was called Maria. Before becoming a politician, he was an active defender of LGBT+ rights and even participated in the TV show Love me gender, in which he talked about the problem of self-identification and his fate, the BBC reports.
