Direct elections of the mayor were canceled in the capital of the Amur Region
Most of the deputies of the City Duma of Blagoveshchensk advocated the abolition of direct popular elections of the mayor of the city, TASS reports. “For amendments to the Charter of Blagoveshchensk, 22 deputies of 30 deputies attended at the meeting voted,” the representative of the City Duma said. “Representatives of the Communist Party and the LDPR, as well as one unicorn, opposed, another parliamentarian abstained.” Refusal of the elections will save budget funds, politicians say.
