Icelanders declared the killed whale by an interspecific hybrid
The research institute of marine and freshwater studies announced that, according to a genetic study, obtained by Icelandic whales in early July, Kit was an interspecific hybrid. His father was a Finval, and his mother belonged to the blue whales. This result of the examination is important for Icelandic lawyers, since according to the laws of the country, the fishing of hybrids is allowed, while it is forbidden to obtain blue whales.
