Scientists received new ultra -thin material
Scientists from Germany and Finland synthesized a new ultra -thin material, which, like graphene, is a flat layer of one atom thick. But, unlike graphene, which is a semiconductor, this material shows metal properties. Employees of the University of Marburg and the University of Aalto received an ultra-thin biphenylene grid, which consists of four-, six- and eight-membered rings of carbon atoms. For synthesis, a gold substrate was used.
