On March 29 (17), 1848, Alexei Kuropatkin was born, commander in chief of the Russian army in the war with Japan Personal business Alexey Nikolaevich Kuropatkin (1848–1925) was born in the village of Sheshurino of the Pskov province. His father, Nikolai Emelyanovich, was a military man, received a nobility with an officer rank, rose to the headquarters captain and became a teacher of topography in the St. Petersburg Cadet Corps.
