On April 26, the Polish Sejm voted to grant the Silesian language official status as a regional language. Of the 427 Sejm deputies who took part in the voting, 236 voted for the recognition of Silesian, 186 against and five abstained. The bill is opposed by the main opposition party Law and Justice, as well as the Kukiz'15 movement and the coalition of far-right parties Confederation of Freedom and Independence.
