Fundamentals of Khamovniki Orthodoxy
The Pussy Riot trial has long since passed the point where one could doubt its enormous social significance. All people of good will are outraged by the medieval trial, reports from the Khamovniki shame disgrace Russia on the front pages of the world's largest newspapers, everyone who can has already stood up to defend Maria Alekhina, Ekaterina Samutsevich and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova: from the Orthodox intelligentsia to Fyodor Bondarchuk, Alla Pugacheva and Madonna .

The Russian language in Ukraine is now “legal”
Yesterday Yanukovych finally signed the law on the fundamentals of state language policy. It seems that after this, in 13 regions of Ukraine, where at least 10 percent of residents consider Russian to be their native language, it will acquire official regional status. What this status will actually give now, strictly speaking, is not clear, but it is better to have at least some status than not to have it at all.

Candidate for the post of mayor of Kaliningrad Igor Pleshkov: I am outside the system. I'm against the system.
Igor Pleshkov was the only major businessman in the Kaliningrad region who openly supported, both personally and financially, the protests “For Fair Elections” at the beginning of 2012. It was the cars of his company that took part in the February motor rally “For Fair Elections” in orderly columns, forcing the whole country to once again pay attention to Kaliningrad.

Last word: Tolokonnikova, Alekhina, Samutsevich
The Khamovnichesky Court in Moscow gave the Pussy Riot members the opportunity to give their final word. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova: “By and large, the trial is not over the three vocalists of Pussy Riot, but over the entire judicial system of Russia. The trial is approaching the standards of Stalin’s “troikas”. The authoritarian system is to blame for the performance in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and the subsequent trial. suppression of basic human rights, civil and political freedoms.

Meanness
It was not possible to sleep today. There was information that at night they would exhumer Tatyana Kazantsev. Exhumation began at seven in the morning. Today, and not on August 11th, as the court allowed. The most vile - parents were not even warned. And then they did not let in the cemetery. And they didn’t even say where the daughter was taken away. The entire territory of the cemetery was cordoned off.

Showdown between regional heads. Krasnodar-Stavropol version
This time, the heads of the Stavropol and Krasnodar territories may quarrel, taking over the baton from Kadyrov and Yevkurov. Governor of the Stavropol Territory Valery Zerenkov entered into an absentee debate with his Kuban colleague Alexander Tkachev, who called the Stavropol region a former filter between the Caucasus and the Krasnodar Territory and stated that with the help of Cossack squads created from September 1, it is necessary to stop the resettlement of Caucasians to the Kuban.

Social experiment. Not recommended for impressionable people
Deputy Head of the Tbilisi District of the Krasnodar Territory for Economics Dmitry Zhertovsky risked living for a month on the minimum wage - 6.5 thousand rubles. Moreover, the goal of this social experiment, admittedly, is quite noble - to convince local entrepreneurs to increase the salaries of their employees.

Enthusiasm is fading
I will not hide that I was one of those who associated hopes for certain changes with the new authorities of the city and region. Alas, the events of recent days show that these expectations were largely in vain.

Political repression is being applied to Gennady Gudkov
Our comrade Gennady Gudkov is being persecuted with impunity in the press, the Investigative Committee has taken up arms against him, and they are threatening to deprive him of his deputy mandate. We are confident that today political repression is being fully applied to him.

Navalny is looking for where it is light
I think Alexei Navalny is looking for corruption in the wrong place. Well, that is, corruption has long been everywhere in Russia. It has become a system-forming phenomenon on which the regime firmly rests. But that's not what I'm talking about now. I haven't done any detailed calculations (yet).

Civil society in a single forest
Photo: Alisa Ivanitskaya/PublicPost Text: Alisa Ivanitskaya About 300 people came to the Izmailovo Park of Culture and Recreation on Wednesday for a rally organized by the Yabloko party. Mostly residents of the territories adjacent to the Izmailovsky Forest. In a conversation with PublicPost, almost all of them said that they were completely apolitical and came to the rally solely because they were afraid of the forest being turned into a development zone.
