A session of parliament has opened in Iraq, during which the deputies will have to form a new government. This became possible after the United Iraqi Alliance, the Javad al-Malika, nominated the prime minister, nominated the Javad’s candidate for the post of prime minister on Friday. The head of the transition government, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, announced the resignation, since the Sunnis and Kurds resolutely objected to his candidacy.
