The new president of Croatia promises to fight corruption
The newly elected president of Croatia, Ivo Yosipovich, considers his main task to fight corruption, which will help Croatia by 2012 to join the European Union. Yosipovich said this, speaking to his supporters after yesterday’s victory in the second round of the presidential election. According to the National Election Commission, Yosipovich, representing the opposition Social Democratic Party, scored more than 60 percent of the vote, his rival, mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandich, about 40 percent.
