Rustem Khamitov was approved as the head of Bashkiria
The State Assembly of Bashkiria approved Rustem Khamitov as the President of the Republic. It is reported that almost all deputies present at the meeting voted for his candidacy. The candidacy of Khamitov, the top manager of the company RusHydro, was previously proposed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Ex-president of Bashkiria, Murtaza Rakhimov, who headed the republic since 1990, said last week that he was resigning ahead of schedule.
