Five years ago, on August 26, 2008, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after the Russian-Georgian armed conflict, the so-called "Fifth-day War", which lasted from August 7 to 12, 2008, and after the relevant appeals, first from the Abkhazian and Yugooseta parliaments, and then from the Council of the Federation and the State Duma, signed decisions on the recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
