The former head of Uzbekistan Rafik Nishanov died
The former head of Uzbekistan Rafik Nishanov died at 97 years of life. He led the republic a little more than a year and a half in late Soviet times, after which he headed one of the two chambers of the Soviet Parliament, the Supreme Council. Nishanov by education, a history teacher, from the age of 26, made a party career, was the chairman of the city executive committee (mayor) of Tashkent, a secretary according to the ideology of the Uzbek Communist Party.
