On Thursday, Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the oil industry in Kirishi, not far from St. Petersburg. There is a large oil refinery in Kirishi, and its director, Vadim Somov, an old acquaintance of Putin, prepared for the prime minister's arrival and set a relatively low price for gasoline. Usually, prices in Kirishi are just high: Europe is very close, and in Russia, the closer to the border, the more expensive any export product on the domestic market.
