In Russia, there are five channels for recruiting the political class. There are two main ones: personally-corporate and traditional, administrative-bureaucratic. The person-corporate channel penetrated the entire state system, starting from the upper echelons of power-Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev. With them, those people with whom both studied or worked went to increase. The same thing happens at all other levels of power, and even more than upstairs.

From the editors : We present a fragment of a study on educational systems and institutions focused on the preparation of the elite. In this sample-material related to only the Russian part, and the results of the analysis are mainly related to the period of the 1990–2000s. The study was conducted under the leadership of Andrew Delabanko and will be published in the journal Chronicle of Higher Education in the summer of 2009.
