Perm lost its status as a million-plus city
The number of Russian cities with a population exceeding one million people has decreased from 13 to 12. These are preliminary data from the population census conducted in 2010. Perm lost its status as a million-plus city. The largest cities remained Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Omsk, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa and Volgograd. The All-Russian population census took place from October 14 to October 25, 2010.
